Canadian Brand EQ3 Reverie - a history in the making

In 2001, EQ3 was founded with a simple mission: To make modern furniture accessible. Over the past 15 years we’ve built an offering of custom upholstery, made-to-order in Winnipeg, Canada. This model has allowed us to offer countless configurations and over 130+ fabric and leather options, so that your sofa or sectional reflects your needs and personal style.

At EQ3, we celebrate our custom-upholstery program every October. We pay homage to the talented designers and skilled craftspeople that embrace the authenticity, compassion and ethical responsibility that define what it means to be Canadian. This October, in a new blog series, The Making Of, we’ll take you behind the scenes on the making some of the upholstery collections that are so unique to EQ3. First to be featured, the Reverie Collection.

An EQ3 classic, the Reverie collection was influenced by American Mid Century Modern design language, featuring architectural lines that are punctuated with elegant button tufting.

The making of each of our sofas and sectionals starts with the frame. The Reverie frame is made from a combination of Aspen and Birch hardwood, as well as high-precision engineered wood. After the frame is assembled, the sofa then moves to the next phase of manufacturing, where the internal suspension system is installed. The internal suspension system for our Reverie collection features sinuous (curvy and supportive) wire springs that are designed to work with our high resiliency foam to achieve a well-balanced and ergonomic seating experience.

Once the foam is applied, the piece is ready to be upholstered in one of our 130+ fabric and leather options. Each button is hand-pulled to create the iconic tufting.

As classic as the era that inspired the design, the Reverie is sure to be an EQ3 classic in your home for years to come.
